Autotransformer starting is a method of starting induction motors using an autotransformer, which is a type of transformer with a single winding that serves as both the primary and secondary winding. This method is used to reduce the starting current and voltage of the motor, which helps in reducing the stress on the motor and the power system during the starting process. However, there are both advantages and disadvantages to using autotransformer starting in induction motor applications:
Advantages of Autotransformer Starting:
Reduced Starting Current: The primary advantage of autotransformer starting is the significant reduction in starting current compared to direct-on-line (DOL) starting. This reduced starting current helps prevent voltage drops and reduces the stress on the motor windings and the power supply.
Less Voltage Drop: Autotransformer starting minimizes voltage drops in the power distribution network during motor starting, which can be particularly important in systems with limited capacity.

Hi all
I'm trying to get a new podcast feed up and running, I'm using anchor and their guidance is that the first 5 podcasts of the feed must be of good quality. So I took the same first 5 I have on my old podcast feed, converted them to 64bit and uploaded to the new podcast feed. I did this by downloading from the old feed and uploading to the new feed. However anchor said the first episode was corrupted, the rest uploaded fine, so I used a backup of the first one and uploaded it again. Again, it was marked as corrupted, so I used a different backup of the first podcast and uploaded that. Again it was marked as corrupted. I spoke to anchor and they suggested opening the file in a software called 'audacity' and resaving it, this worked and it uploaded to the new feed. So I'm thinking that for some reason anchor thinks the first episode of my old podcast is corrupted.
I want to know how to delete the entire old podcast from their servers, or how to convince anchor that the first episode of my old podcast is not corrupted. Anchor say I should be able to start a new podcast and link it to the old podcast and get it to pick up from where the old one left off. However they were not able to tell me how to do this and I don't know how to do it. Anchor support say that if the new feed is looking to start from the most recent podcast of the old feed, it will pick up the corruption from the first podcast in the old feed.
Many thanks
Sylvia
DoubleDown5Pseudo: Publish episode 0 that has 10 seconds of silence as Episode 0.
Anchor doesn't really have a way of starting at a different point on their site. They will have to handle that in the App. But there will be 4 episodes of garbage sitting there.
!
OP: Hi
Thanks for your help
By Episode 0, do you mean the first one, or a new episode?
Many thanks
Sylvia
DoubleDown5Pseudo: You have an episode 1 with silence. You then publish the actual episode 1 on top of it. Anchor won't let you delete the feed. iTunes/iOS does not allow it.
But it is a kludge.
That said, have you looked at Lipsync? They moved to Anchor a while back and my opinion is you could do worse than them. Simplecast is more stable but has a bit of a learning curve. Libsyn is the 800-pound gorilla and Art19 the advanced thing you are not ready for yet. Castos might be worth a look as well.
I personally wouldn't start from scratch and try to retain an audience. I'd be very clear you are starting from scratch and apologize. That's me.
!
OP: OK, so are you saying that to get the new podcast to pick up from Episode 2, I would upload an Episode 0 of silence, and then when I upload the remaining episodes, they will upload without a problem?
DoubleDown5Pseudo: What I am saying is that in the Anchor system it might be possible that the first thing it does is take the first episode and give you an error so you can't ever change your starting point, even if it thinks it's episode 2.
I am suggesting a kludge to move the problem somewhere else. This is exactly the sort of bug you don't want in a podcast host.
!
OP: Thank you
So would the kludge be to upload an Episode 0 of silence to the old podcast or the new podcast, or both?
DoubleDown5Pseudo: There is no need to touch the old podcast feed, as I understand the situation. Anchor is giving you an error on a specific file. My suspicion is that error is on the first episode or otherwise is hardcoded in the system and that you can't avoid that error.
So you upload a ten second long silence episode called Episode 0. Then you upload episode 2, and then episode 3 etc. If you add it to iTunes using the Apple ID that you used for the old show, it should import the new RSS feed.
There are many ways for this to go wrong as this is not intended behavior and you are trying to work around a bug in a piece of software.
!
OP: Hi
I tried your suggestion, but unfortunately it has not worked. The error message is "This episode was forcibly corrupted, so you'll need to delete and re-upload it to get it on your podcast." I have tried uploading the file from 3 different computers, and from Chrome and Safari. I have tried opening the file in Audacity and saving it again. Is there anything else I can try, or any other software you recommend? Many thanks. Sylvia
DoubleDown5Pseudo: Have you tried contacting Anchor support? I don't think I can fix this for you.
!
OP: Yes, Anchor support is currently looking into it and has sent it to the engineering team, but in the meantime, I would like to try to fix it myself. Many thanks for your help. Sylvia
DoubleDown5Pseudo: Good luck. Again, try the other free hosting tiers, or just publish a note that the first episode is broken and apologize. Or just keep badgering Anchor support until they fix it for you.
And I will stress that the kludge I am suggesting might do nothing for you but it's your best option, I think.
Sorry.
!
OP: OK, many thanks for your help and advice. Sylvia
DoubleDown5Pseudo: Sure. Sorry I wasn't more help.
!
OP: Hi all, I managed to get the problem fixed by getting the files from a completely different source. Thank you all for your help. Sylvia
